A dreamy spring wedding at Valley View Farm

    January 24, 2025 /

T & C were married on a cool April Day – a springtime wedding at Valley View Farm in western Massachusetts. The birds were singing. Valley View’s apple trees were popping blooms. And I was able to incorporate all the flowers of spring into their blush and white florals: tulips, hyacinth, ranunculus, leucojeum and lots and lots of pieris japonica! Location: Valley View Farm, Haydenville, MA Photographer: Jeffrey Rifkin Photography Flowers by me! When I do a consultation I always ask the couple: do you want the bridesmaids’ bouquets to be the same as the bride’s, but smaller and simpler? That’s what’s happening here. The same flowers I used in…

Warm fall colors at a warm fall wedding – The Boylston Rooms, Easthampton

    February 22, 2023 /

Dallas and Jessee were all about the terracotta colors at their warm fall wedding at The Boylston Rooms in Easthampton. I’d describe their warm-toned, seasonal wedding florals as cozy, seasonal, and elegant. All photos are by Bug and June Photo. Location:  The Boylston Rooms, Easthampton. Flowers by me! I used several different dahlias in Dallas’s bouquet, including a couple of my favorite soft orange blooms, Labyrinth and Jowey Linda, Added some nice orange roses, some beautiful peach and cream lisianthus I got from Old Friends Farm, a few heirloom chrysanthemums and some soft blue-green eucalyptus and ta da! Proof that an all-orange wedding bouquet is anything but uniform. The couple’s…

Summer color, summer joy: a Gedney Farm wedding

    February 6, 2023 /

Julia and Adam were not afraid of lots of colorful blooms for their late summer Gedney Farm wedding, and that was a good thing because September is peak flower season in New England! When people think of “fall flowers” I think they think of orange and red tones, but the reality is our fall flowers – especially dahlias – come in all tones! And since I plant about 50 different varieties of dahlias every year, there’s lots of color to choose from. The wedding location is Gedney Farm, in New Marlborough, Massachusetts, northern Berkshires. The photographer for this happy couple is Chelsea Proulx. Flowers by me! Julia’s instructions for me…

Classic burgandy, blush, and pops of pink for fall – at Valley View Farm in Haydenville

    March 6, 2022 /

Annie and Kevin’s wedding flowers were in a very classic color scheme: burgandy and blush with pops of pink for fun. Annie wanted a draping bridal bouquet, so I used weeping amaranth as well as foliage to create the shape. All photos by Kelly F. Peterson Photography. Location: Valley View Farm, Haydenville MA. I love how her bridesmaids’s gowns are all different styles! Because they were married in the fall I was able to take advantage of dahlia season. I spy lots of ‘black magic’ dahlias as well as several white varieties. The draping, wispy foliage here is called “agonis.” The pavilion ceremony space at Valley View farm was decorated…

Wedding flowers for two “planty people” at Quonquont Farm

    January 19, 2021 /

Michele and Graham are what I like to call “planty people.” Both work in horticulture. Both love plants. And so when they asked me to do their personal flowers for their September wedding at Quonquont Farm in Whateley, but said they planned on creating their centerpieces themselves using buckets of DIY flowers, I was happy to oblige. And when they asked if they could create these centerpieces themselves in my shed…well, I wouldn’t have let just anyone do it! But I was happy to let these two do it! (And actually, I might let more people do it in the future because we they had such a great time!
