Perfectly peach fall wedding flowers at Valley View Farm, Haydenville
September is a perfect time for wedding flowers if you’re working with a farmer-florist, like me. Pretty much ALL the most special flowers are in bloom: the dahlias, the lisianthus, the fancy zinnias, romantic hydrangea, the scabiosas…that’s what M and J wanted for their perfectly peach fall wedding at Valley View Farm in Haydenville, MA, last September, and that’s what they got. All photos: Paul Robert Berman Photography. Location: Valley View Farm. Florals: Me! The pavilion at Valley View always affords a spectacular backdrop. We accented the ceremony space with large, lush arrangements of seasonal flowers atop whisky barrels, and lined the aisles with peach, white, and orange arrangements placed…

Warm fall colors at a warm fall wedding – The Boylston Rooms, Easthampton
Dallas and Jessee were all about the terracotta colors at their warm fall wedding at The Boylston Rooms in Easthampton. I’d describe their warm-toned, seasonal wedding florals as cozy, seasonal, and elegant. All photos are by Bug and June Photo. Location: The Boylston Rooms, Easthampton. Flowers by me! I used several different dahlias in Dallas’s bouquet, including a couple of my favorite soft orange blooms, Labyrinth and Jowey Linda, Added some nice orange roses, some beautiful peach and cream lisianthus I got from Old Friends Farm, a few heirloom chrysanthemums and some soft blue-green eucalyptus and ta da! Proof that an all-orange wedding bouquet is anything but uniform. The couple’s…

Summer color, summer joy: a Gedney Farm wedding
Julia and Adam were not afraid of lots of colorful blooms for their late summer Gedney Farm wedding, and that was a good thing because September is peak flower season in New England! When people think of “fall flowers” I think they think of orange and red tones, but the reality is our fall flowers – especially dahlias – come in all tones! And since I plant about 50 different varieties of dahlias every year, there’s lots of color to choose from. The wedding location is Gedney Farm, in New Marlborough, Massachusetts, northern Berkshires. The photographer for this happy couple is Chelsea Proulx. Flowers by me! Julia’s instructions for me…

Turn of the century-themed wedding at Wisteriahurst
Jessica and Mike wanted a turn of the century themed wedding, and what better location than Wisteriahurst, the historic mansion and cultural center in Holyoke. After the ceremony they and their guests traveled to the Roosevelt Room at Union Station in Northampton – more of the turn-of-the-century theme as it’s the great hall of the railway station in Northampton, built right before 1900. Purples and pinks and the Seven Sisters in the background: a fall wedding in Amherst
Sophie and Dane got married in Sophie’s grandmother’s backyard, which sounds sweet, right? And when Grandma’s backyard abuts the Holyoke Range state park, you get a view for days – a perfect backdrop for their family and friend-filled wedding. Something doubly sweet: Sophie’s parents were married in that same backyard! This wedding is a perfect example of a fall wedding with almost 100% seasonal blooms, but whose colors were anything but “seasonal.” September on my farm is full of all the colors, and I was thrilled that Sophie wanted purples and pinks and whites – I had plenty!
