Bright summer flowers and all smiles at The Red Barn at Hampshire College
Warning: there is so much smiling in these pictures that my cheeks hurt just from looking at them! So fun! Jenn and Sean were married on a gorgeous summer day here in western Massachusetts. Scroll through to guess the requested colors: (answer: orange, orange, and more orange!) I love it! I mixed my own eryngium, nigella, stock, feverfew, baptisia foliage, mint, and billy buttons with orange roses and chrysanthemums to hit the color scheme, and mixed in a few lilies at Jenn’s request as they are a special flower to her. Bright and sunny summer wedding at the Boylston Rooms
When I was setting up the arch installation for Caitlyn and Justin’s Boylston Rooms wedding, someone – probably photographer Trish Kemp – said it was pretty and sunny, just like the bride’s personality. I thought this was so sweet! And since I already knew Caitlyn (as did Trish) before she hired me to do her wedding flowers, I agree! Putting the farm to bed for the winter…
October is kind of a bittersweet month, no pun on bittersweet, that gorgeous, noxious, invasive vine intended! October means frost, which means the end of most of my flowers, including the dahlias, ageratum, and zinnias that populated so many of my fall-themed bouquets and arrangements. October means the end of my summer farmer’s market. October means I only have a few more weeks to make sure everything I want to overwinter has its best chance of making it. This means lots of digging, planting the stragglers, mulching, snipping, and covering. October means apples and pears the various jams and butters I make.
