Bright summer flowers and all smiles at The Red Barn at Hampshire College

Warning: there is so much smiling in these pictures that my cheeks hurt just from looking at them! So fun!

Jenn and Sean were married on a gorgeous summer day here in western Massachusetts. Scroll through to guess the requested colors: (answer: orange, orange, and more orange!) I love it!

I mixed my own eryngium, nigella, stock, feverfew, baptisia foliage, mint, and billy buttons with orange roses and chrysanthemums to hit the color scheme, and mixed in a few lilies at Jenn’s request as they are a special flower to her.

I used lots of roses for Jenn’s bouquet, as you can see. Confession: I don’t grow roses as they are picky and apparently I’m bad at it, BUT luckily there are plenty of orange roses available and “Free Spirit,” which are the big orange and yellow blooms you see in most of the personal flowers here, are my favorite! Really! So bright! So cheerful! So the vibe these two were going for.

I’m in love with the bridesmaids dresses Jenn and her gals picked out. I love a pattern and a mismatch/match and they really pulled it off.

Jenn requested I use lilies here and there in her wedding florals as they are special to her. I don’t grow lilies (darn you, Scarlet lily beetle!) so I got some from the market. We decorated the aisles with sweet little jars of blooms hung on shepherd’s hooks. I love how this looks. I know meadow flowers at the foot of the aisle chairs are in style right now, but this is an alternative for people who want something to mark the aisles but who do not want so many (or so expensive) florals for the ceremony. I am often of the opinion that simple and sweet is best!

The tree at the Red Barn offers a gorgeous backdrop. J & S chose to have their ceremony framed by 2 large arrangements perched on the venue’s whiskey barrels.

The tables inside were decorated with compose bud vases (I call this the “eclectic vase” centerpiece) and Jenn embroidered these ADORABLE table numbers. Really special.

The head table also featured eclectic vase centerpieces. I think these work equally as well on round tables and on rectangular or barn tables. As a grower, I really like that they allow me to use shorter stems or flowers of which I only have a few.

And finally, congratulations to the happy couple! The wedding was gorgeous, but now for the best part: your marriage
